After founding Mornington's eminent Moorooduc Estate and decades crafting the most memorable vintages for Mornington's leading brands, Richard McIntyre established a tiny, single hectare vineyard, on a prominent, high elevation site at Arthur's Seat, with a view to producing limited yields of the most exquisite small batch wines. Barolo may be one of the world's most celebrated winemaking regions but it is also one of the smallest, just over two square miles supporting a population of a few hundred locals. There are several communes but they all must adhere to the strict DOCG regulations, exclusively Nebbiolo must be harvested off sunny hillsides, to the exclusion of valley floors and flat terrains, shaded sites or northern exposures.
